Ahh, Monday

3/19/12

Sometimes Mondays are the refreshing start to a new week, and sometimes they’re a panicked catch-up from the weekend….and today feels a little bit like the combination of both. I’m happy to be starting a new week, and I’ve been LOVING the Spring weather. Somehow nice temperatures and bits of sunshine just make me feel like being more productive. Which is good, because I definitely feel the weight of my ever-growing To Do list. The good thing is, I’ve already accomplished about half of today’s list, and I’m confident I can tackle the rest (while also assigning tasks for the rest of the week). Spring is just an exciting season, and it reminds me to be filled with hope and expectation for the upcoming busy “season”, and not just to be overwhelmed by what is currently, and what WILL be, on my plate.

I read this quote this morning from Elisabeth Elliot’s Keep A Quiet Heart, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to DO the thing we fear.”

What a reminder, right? I’m sure we ALL have things on our plate that intimidate us, whether you’re a fellow photographer and business owner, or not. Areas that are weak that we KNOW need to be built up, but maybe feel like we’ll never actually be able to strengthen them. And then, of course, those thoughts can lead to overall fear of failure. But that quote reminded me that it’s not about NOT being afraid, or intimidated, or overwhelmed. It’s about being able to stare those feelings in the face, and do what is necessary in SPITE of them. And today I’m filled with the hope that I can do just that.

I hope this encourages you all, too, in whatever season of life you may be in, with whatever you find on your plate or To Do list. Tackle it with courage, my friends!
