Introducing: Wardrobe Wednesday!

3/07/12

I’m really, really excited about this post today, and the launch of a new two-month series called (as you might have guessed) “Wardrobe Wednesday”! I’ve long wanted to do SOMETHING on my blog about style or fashion, but never was really sure how to best go about it, nor did I consider myself any sort of “expert” on the subject. But expert or not, it IS a huge interest of mine and after the encouragement of two wonderful friends (Jen & Lauryn) I came up with what I think is a pretty great idea!

So, what exactly IS Wardrobe Wednesday? I’m so glad you asked! It’s going to be a once-a-week series that I will be posting for March & April (and potentially beyond, depending on how you all like it, and what time allows for this summer as “wedding season” gets fully underway) where I show you an inspiration photo from my Pinterest style board, and then an outfit that I put together from said inspiration. The kicker is, I will only be using things I ALREADY HAVE in my wardrobe. I’m sure I’m not the only one trying to save money and live on a small budget right now. Whether you’re saving for a car, a house, college, a wedding, children, vacation, etc, chances are MOST of you can identify with not having much “extra” spending money right now. And though I LOVE style and fashion blogs, one of the things that I’ve never been able to identify with is going out and spending a ton of money for one cute outfit. I mean, on a lot of blogs they consider $100 for an outfit a BARGAIN. But this girl likes to spend $5 and $10 for new outfit pieces…. So, I thought it might serve to encourage and inspire some of you to see how I’m getting fresh inspiration for the wardrobe I already have, and thus this series was born!

I have to give a special shout-out to Lauryn who not only was one of the friends that told me this was a cool idea, but also hung out with me for a few hours and took all of the photos that you’ll be seeing in these posts. So, thanks for the support & documentation, my friend! :)

And now, without any further ado, I present to you the FIRST installment of Wardrobe Wednesday!

(Photo from Kendi Everyday)

I loved the sweater/dress/tights combination, and of course, the pop of yellow. So those were the features I wanted to emulate most. And while I have brown boots similar to this photo, when putting together my outfit I decided I liked the vibe of the Oxford type shoes, instead.

Dress: Express, $30 (which is a splurge for me!) | Sweater: Old Navy, $15 | Tights: Rummage Sale, $1 | Shoes: Rummage Sale, $1 | Belt: Goodwill, $3 | Necklace: Inherited from my Mom’s jewelry collection :) | Ring: Thrift Store, $5

So, there you have it, my friends! Please take a minute and let me know what you think of this new series! (Hopefully you’re as excited about it as I am! :)
