Friday Fun Facts

7/27/12

So, earlier this week I got inspired to write a “random facts” sort of post after reading the ever-awesome Promise Tangeman’s on Monday. It’s just fun to learn about other people, and it actually sent me back to the days of yore when those survey/quiz things would circulate via email. Remember those? The ones that your friends would send you with all of their answers, then you’d fill it out with your answers and send it back to all of them, etc. I spent HOURS on those things! I guess that’s what we did before we all had Facebook and Twitter. Hah. But, nevertheless, that’s what brings us to my post today! Being that it’s Friday and we’re all ready for some weekend fun, I thought I’d usher it in with some random facts to share with you all! So heeeere we go! :)

I’m a middle child.

I went to public school for kindergarten, but was homeschooled from 1st – 12th grade. And yes, I feel like I’m very socially well-adapted, thankyouverymuch. ;)

I’m a Colts fan, through and through, even though they ripped my QB away from me.

I have been bestowed with many-a-nickname in my lifetime including, but not limited to: Ticonderoga, Ticky V, Trog-Tor, Tor-dork (thank you, younger brother), Toria, T-bone, Trio, and Torrence.

The Wizard of Oz and Lady and the Tramp were my favorite movies as a young child.

Aaron and I randomly start speaking to each other in either a Cockney British or Australian accent, on a fairly frequent basis.

7 is my favorite number.

Speaking of numbers, I see every number and letter as either male or female, young or old, and nice or mean. For instance, 9 is a male and kind of grumpy, while A and 4 are nurturing, kind females (I kid you not. I always assumed everyone saw things this way….)

I’m not a big hotdog fan, but I really like charred ones.

I lovvvve musicals and used to dream of being a Broadway star (I practiced my autograph and everything).

I was a member of 4-H for all 10 years. (I never did anything with animals, though, I stuck to scrapbooking, art & poster projects)

The Count of Monte Cristo and To Kill A Mockingbird are two of my all-time favorite books.

But, I watch movies way more than I read.

I like being in front of the camera as much as being behind it.

Parking in cities is one of the biggest stresses in my life, because I’m too afraid to parallel park.

I organize things in strange ways. My CD’s used to be categorized by artist and genre, and my closet is color-coded, but used to be in progression from tank tops to long sleeves, and short skirts to long ones, etc. And I have a strange complex that says if I don’t have time to clean something and organize it the way that I want, I’d rather not do it at all. I HATE things being shoved “out of sight” but in places they don’t belong!

I love grilled peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

Ok, I think I’ll leave it there, for now. I could go on and on, I’m sure. But maybe I’ll just have another installment of Fun Facts some other time…. For now, though, YOU should definitely post a few fun, random facts about yourself in the comments! And/or if you’ve written a similar post, link to it so I can read it. :)

Happy Friday, everyone! And here’s to embracing all of the random things that make us who we are!

Hahahahaha the numbers thing! That’s so awesome! I just posted a similar sort of post today- these are definitely my favorite sort of blogs to read. Fun!

  2. AHHH! I almost dropped my computer — FINALLY a kindred spirit! I’ve always given/pictured numbers with ages and personalities and just thought it was normal. :) I’ve been home schooled since first grade, except for preschool + kindergarten and I plan to be all the way through twelfth grade. :) AND, one of my nicknames is Hannah Banana from Texicana (don’t ask. preschool teachers love any chance they can get to nickname you to death). But as for some other random facts…

I’m double jointed in my right toes.

If I’ve seen a movie, I can quote it and quote it well.

Speaking of quoting, we have quoting games in our family, where someone will give a line (usually in a different intonation) and we have to guess the movie.

I’ve played piano since I was seven and took lessons up till I was thirteen.

I could probably exist of off fruit. And chocolate.

I’ve had surgery to remove a bone in my foot, which also ended my ballet “career.” I danced seven and a half years and two and a half years of pointe before my injury.

I have this weird “problem” where I can look at a picture and tell if it was taken with a full-frame camera or a cropped sensor.

I’m not an animal person but I want chickens someday. (my poor someday-husband)

I want a big family and would love to adopt as well.

I can work a tile saw, tear apart a deck, sand and cut some wood, and lay tile like no one’s business.

I once went without pop for a year and a half.

I’m pretty much a fan of all genres of music (besides rap, heavy metal, hard rock, etc…;)

I’ve always wanted to voice a Disney Princess. (aw! blushing. ;))

I was a HUGE (I mean huge) fantasy (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Chronicles of Narnia, Eragon, Hunger Games, etc…) fantasy/sci-fi + Marvel fan growing up. It’s actually quite embarrassing. In fact, our youth group went to the Avengers and I ended up having to explain a lot of the characters and backstory. ;)

My dream home is a white farmhouse.

    so fun! :)

  3. Lauryn says:

TORRENCE. HAHAHAHAHA I am so calling you that from now on.

  4. karen says:

AH! I love grilled PB&J sandwiches TOO!! Most people look at me like I’m crazy when I mention loving them, but I always tell them that they can’t knock it until they try it. That warm, gooey, runny peanut butter…mmm good.

  5. Grilled PB&J… hmmmmm I’ll have to think on that one for a while. ha!

my dad and i will, at random times, start speaking to each other in over-the-top-red-neck accents–which–when you do that while speaking afrikaans, can be QUITE hilarious!

  6. Olivia says:

    I love this! :)
I can relate to so many of these: I do the same thing with numbers, those two movies are some of my favorites, and the Colts. Let’s not even talk about that…I still love them, but without Manning, I don’t know. ;)
I might have to do a post like this! Thanks for the idea! :)

  7. Rebekah says:

Oh my gosh, I love grilled pb&j sandwiches too! Most people just don’t get it. Do you think it’s a hoosier thing?

Loved the list. I think it’s about time I do this again too.

But before I close this comment, I guess I’ll leave one random fact about me: sometimes when I’m talking to people, I find myself typing out what they are saying in my mind. I try not to move my fingers. But sometimes I do.

  8. […] a little Type A. And that got me thinking that perhaps it’s time for another installment of Friday Fun Facts since the last one I did was over two years ago! So, in no particular order, here are 10 more […]
