Handmade Happiness | Christmas Ornament Give-Away!

12/21/12

Christmas is just a FEW days away! It’s hard to believe that’s true, but it is! I’m hopping in a car with Aaron, my brother & his room mate to make the trek to Indiana this afternoon, and I can’t wait to spend the next week with family and friends doing all sorts of Christmassy things!

One of my favorite traditions from growing up (that my parents still continue today) is that each of us would get a new ornament every year. This year, my Mom put ME in charge of deciding what ornaments to get, and it was a no-brainer. Ever since discovering that my friend (and former bride), Ashley, was making ADORABLE handmade ornaments (each one is different!) for this year’s Bizarre Market, I knew I had to have one! I love her work so much that in addition to everyone in MY family getting one, I wanted one of YOU to get one, too!

Ashley is SUPER talented and will be opening an Etsy shop, soon, for more handmade lovelies for party favors, wedding decorations, and more! But, for now, you can find her shop of vintage clothes on Etsy, Dreamboat Darling, to keep up with her. You can also still swing by the Bizarre Market, if you’re local, and pick up an ornament for yourself!

But let’s get to it. To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment telling me YOUR favorite Christmas tradition (be sure to enter your email address when prompted, as you comment, so I can contact the winner)That’s it! I will pick a winner and announce on Monday, Christmas Eve! :)

  2. Anna-Lisa says:

Ornaments are my favorite tradition too! My grandma gives an ornament to each grandchild every year – some years they’re entirely handmade, other years it’s a little picture she painted on a glass ball, and sometimes she buys them… they’re all treasures though.

(That little ornament is so so cute!) My favorite tradition is when we’re with myyyyyy side of the family, my mom puts out all the cookies and chocolates she has made the previous week, she puts them out the morning of Christmas, and we all wake up and eat delicious treats for breakfast, with yummy coffee, whilst we open prezzies. Best tradition ever.

  4. Angela Brunton says:

My favorite Christmas tradition was baking sugar cookies and decorating them on Christmas Eve with my daughters when they were young. We would set out a few for Santa. I still carry-on this tradition, but now it includes my granddaughter, Kennedy.

  5. Andrea says:

My favorite tradition our white elephant gift exchange. Every year it’s hilarious! That ornament is gorgeous!

  6. Suzie says:

Obviously, the ornament tradition is a favorite… started by MY grandma for all us grandkids way back when. Another favorite, started by my other grandma, was to get a new pair of pajamas each year to wear on Christmas Eve. My mom carried that on with all her grandkids by making pj’s for all of them, and when she no longer was able to do that, I carried it on for my kids… and still do. <3

I have A LOT of favorite Christmas traditions! One of my favorites is opening Christmas presents with my parents (and now my fiance!!) Christmas morning. My mom and I get all of the presents out from under the tree and stack them in front of each person’s seat in the living room. With the fire burning and Christmas music playing in the background, we each take turns opening one present at a time until all of the presents are opened! We’ve been opening presents like this for as long as I can remember :)

My favorite Christmas tradition is baking cookies. Lots of women in the kitchen… kids running around every where… men watching a christmas movie of some sort….. and celtic christmas music filling the air. We end up with about 7-8 different kinds of yummy christmas cookies. After they are all spread out on the dinning room table we all fill out christmas tins with a few of each kind to take home and enjoy through the new year! =)

  9. Stacey says:

My favorite Christmas tradition is Christmas breakfast with the family. The meal is different every year but the company and conversation are always the best.

We go to “its a wonderful life” at the Byrd theater on Christmas Eve every year! And while we wait in line we go a grab sushi from Richmond sushi across the street and eat it while we wait :)! Then we sit i. The balcony and sing carols with the mighty Wurlitzer! Awesome memories!
