In honor of the Type A Society give-away I just entered (and you should, too!) I posted three things that make me a little Type A. And that got me thinking that perhaps it’s time for another installment of Friday Fun Facts since the last one I did was over two years ago! So, in no particular order, here are 10 more random facts about yours truly!
I buy notebooks for specific purposes, and “match” them to their purpose. (i.e. a red notebook for church because our church’s logo is red, a leather notebook for branding thoughts because it’s an element of my brand, a mustard yellow notebook for client meetings because that also goes with my brand, etc)
I’m an extrovert, and not shy, but I don’t like being dropped off to go in and get a table at a restaurant by myself. I don’t know why.
It usually takes me 6+ months to finish a book.
Even when I’m cooking something really simple, I like to wear a fun apron (of which I have 3 that I absolutely love).
I’ve been asked 10+ times in random places by total strangers if I “Know who Annie Clark/St. Vincent is” because I look “just like her”. One girl was even sure it was HER, at first. (Sorry to disappoint, though I’m mega flattered by the compliment!)
I frequently reference “golden birthdays” and apparently that’s weird.
I say pop, not soda or Coke.
That previous one is thanks to being from Indiana and living in the good ol’ Midwest through my early 20’s.
I hate bartering for things at flea markets, garage sales, Craigslist, etc, but will ask for an additional discount in a heartbeat on something at a department store if I can find a flaw of any sort.
My desk and office can be a mess, but if I have a candle burning, favorite music on & a cup of coffee on my mug warmer, I’m golden.
What are a few random facts about you? I’d love to hear! There’s no better way to celebrate the weekend almost being here than getting to know others better (and feeling less weird about my random characteristics and habits ;).
I have a “restaurant name” that is not my real name. Just because I hate my name being pronounced wrong (and usually very loud).
Until 2 years ago I did not really care for cats too much, but after adopting the world’s best and most handsome cat, I am head-over-heels in love with him.
Love the smells of beach, fresh laundry, fresh baked goods, Jarvis (our cat), babies, and cool, fresh fall weather.
Keep (and regularly update) a list of names I really like. For the kid(s) we hopefully will have some day.
1. I am a perfectionist messy, meaning I often don’t clean things unless I know I have time and energy to clean them to perfection at one time…which is why most things remain messy for a while.
2. I am a visual learner. VERY much so! Just one example of that is, if someone is trying to spell something for me they have to do it slowly because I need time to process, then visualize, then write each letter that they say. It always takes me longer to process the difference between j and g.
3. One of the perks of being a visual learner is I can remember the location of just about everything I’ve seen. I always amaze and confuse my husband when he looks forever for some random object and I can find it for him in a matter of seconds or minutes.
4. I canNOT read lips to save my life. The number of times people have tried to mouth something to me and I keep mouthing back, “What?!” is ridiculous. It annoys me as much as it ends up annoying them.
5. I am terrible at remembering historical dates but will remember just about anyone’s birthday if told it once.
6. My favorite pet growing up was Lickums. She was a white with black spots rabbit that loved to lick your hand (hence her name). She loved to have her face rubbed and would freak out and smack the bottom of her cage repeatedly if my mom left my room after saying goodnight to me without stopping to rub Lickums’ face.
7. My second favorite pet was our cat, Ginger, who would lick your face anytime you were close enough to her. She and Lickums are the reason why, in my opinion, a pet (but especially a cat) is not truly a pet unless it licks you.
8. I can call and talk to doctor’s offices and the insurance company with no problem, and I have no problem answering my or anybody else’s phone, but I’m always slightly nervous to call friends or people I know.
9. I love eating chocolate chip cookie dough and have bought rolls of it without intending any of it to go in the oven.
