Baby Gender & Name Revealed!

1/29/15

It’s the post you’ve all been waiting for! We are so excited to finally share the news with you! I’m not great at keeping secrets, anyway, so we knew we weren’t the type that would be cut out to keep it to ourselves for the rest of the pregnancy. And we didn’t want to! We want you ALL to share in our joy along the way!

We could not beĀ more thrilled about the little man that will be joining our family! And it turns out the majority definitely won in our case, because almost everyone (including Aaron) have been saying it was a boy from the beginning. And as much as I hate for that many people to be right, we are just thrilled to know and be able to refer to him by name. :) I’ve, of course, already started a Pinterest board for him, and am in love with Baby Gap clothes already. But I’m going to try to make myself focus on the bigger items to begin getting on the registry, as we haven’t begun that process, yet. Definitely more motivated now that we know who our baby is. :) It also happened to work out perfectly that we’ve been settled on and excited about our boy name for a while, now, but were still having trouble finding a girl middle name. So, excitement and happiness all around!

Speaking of which, for anyone curious, neither of the names are family names and normally that would make me really sad, since I’m sentimental and love intentional connection to family. BUT, we decided it was more important to really love the name combination rather than just try to make a family name work (maybe they will for future pregnancies!). And when we stumbled on this combination, I just knew it was perfect and nothing else could compare. We wanted something unique, but not too weird, and still with a classic feel. And for us, this name does that perfectly. Llewyn is a Welsh name (pronounced like Lewis – but with an “n” instead) whose literal meaning is “lion” and that also means “image of a leader” or “shining one”. We loved that it had a significant meaning and hope and pray that our little lion will grow up to be a leader among his peers as someone who loves and follows the Lord in all He does.

So were you one of the majority that guessed right, or is your intuition off like mine and you were thinking it could be a girl up to the last minute?

Now for beginning to tackle the registry this weekend…..wish us luck! :)

That is a beautiful name! I love names that are unconventional, but have deep meaning. It reminded me of my nephew’s name, which is Lockwyn… a mixture of Scottish & Welsh names meaning Fortified/Fastened and Bright/Pure Blessing.
