Wardrobe Wednesday | 5 Storage Favorites

1/27/16

Today we’re getting rather practical. If you’re anything like me – someone who LOVES clothes, and has accumulated a lot over the years – then you likely have a lot to deal with organizing, as well. I have admittedly, been really bad about keeping my clothes put away and neat/tidy. But over the years of trying different things, I’ve come across some that work well and today I wanted to share a few of my favorite wardrobe preserving & organizing items!

WW storage faves

1) First and foremost, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is truly just that. Magic. I have never read anything else that inspired me in the RIGHT way to sort through ALL of my clothes and properly rid my closet of the things I no longer need and enjoy. I’ve only just read it and begun the entire process, but it feels so good to have gone through and gotten rid of things I don’t need, and that made organizing what I DO have (and love) so much more fun! I highly recommend looking up the KonMari method for folding clothes and drawer organization. Seriously the best.

2) Keyring hooks for necklaces. This is such an easy way to store all of your long necklaces that easily get tangled. It looks pretty, and these small ones are only $7.50. I hang a handful on each hook and it works so great!

3) Stackable wire racks for shoes. These are lightweight and easy to stick in the bottom of part of your closet allowing you to stack and store your shoes. They’re less expensive (and less of a commitment) than a cubby storage unit, and can easily be repurposed for other storage should you ever decide you want to do something different with your shoes. But they’ve been working great for me the last few years (especially now that I’ve paired down my shoes at least a little bit more…)

4) Small, hand-held steamer. Oh my gosh. Talk about a life-saver. WHY I didn’t own a steamer until last year, I don’t know. But I had only ever seen those large ones with the base and the long tube like a vacuum cleaner. This one from Target is SO easy to store, easy to take for travel, and just a great thing to have on hand at home. Especially if you’re someone (like me) who hates to iron.

5) Velvet Hangers. I need to continue working on replacing my plastic ones with more and more of these. It’s just so nice not to be annoyed by shirts and dresses falling off the hangers every time you look through your clothes to pick something to wear.

Obviously some of those are probably no-brainers to you, but if there’s anyone out there who ISN’T familiar with some of those things, I just thought you might benefit from the introduction.

What are a few of your favorite items/tips for keeping clothes stored and organized well?

Here’s to wardrobes happy and organized wardrobes in 2016!

Actually, this was super helpful! I need every single one of these, and it’s great to have a reliable recommendation on all of them. I’ve actually been collecting the velvet hangers for a couple of years now and need only one or two more sets to complete it. That makes me feel accomplished, haha.

Yay! So happy this was helpful! I still need to work in a few more sets of the velvet hangers, but the ones I have are like gold! Haha.
