In honor of it being Friday (and the weekend of my birthday!) I wanted to bring you one of my favorite engagement sessions to enjoy as you usher in the weekend. I feel like it would be impossible to show you any of Nick & Ashley without telling you a little bit of the story of first meeting Ashley. You see, it was just one of those experiences….one of those connections…that made me feel like we were long-lost friends catching up on life from the first moment that I sat down and started getting to know her. I don’t remember the exact amount of time we talked, but I know it was over 2 hours, and I know it was only cut short because the coffee shop we were in was closing, and they kindly kicked us out. Did I mention that we didn’t even end up talking about the actual wedding or photography until the end of hanging out? We just clicked on so many things and were having so much fun getting to know each other, that it nearly slipped both of our minds that it was supposed to be a “business” meeting. But those are exactly my FAVORITE kind of meetings. That was the start, folks, and from that point on we shared eager and excited emails back and forth, planning out the engagement session that would come before their amazing fall, farm wedding. Ashley is INCREDIBLY creative and has such fun vintage/retro style that I knew it was just going to be a beautiful creative effort between us. And it was.
Ashley and Nick both have a strong fondness for the city of Richmond, and the great history that it holds, so we wanted to go to some of their favorite “staple” locations. We started out at Old City Hall, did a few inside, and then several outside around Capital Square.
We then went to the Byrd Theater (where Ashley happens to work) and got special access to the balcony area where there was some great, dramatic sunlight streaming in.
And from there we headed to Forest Hill Park, which isn’t far from where Nick & Ashley live, and is one of their favorite spots in the city (mine, too!).
I LOVE this fun vintage dress that Ashley chose to wear for her second outfit!
The casualties of climbing the rock…they were dedicated!
Aren’t they just an awesome, stylish couple? I hope you loved the shoot as much as we all did. :)
And I hope you enjoy the extra special weekend and that you all will get some quality time with family or good friends. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to reflect on the joy of the knowledge that our Savior is RISEN and because of that we have hope today, and for each tomorrow that will come. Happy Easter, friends!
These are beautiful, Tori! You did an amazing job. The one of them holding hands and both looking into the camera looks like it’s out of a catalogue.
Ooo SO beautiful Tori!! I love how you use light so creatively! And I LOVE the lens flare! My favorite is that last shot of them on the blanket with the rocks in the background – gorgeous!! Happy Birthday! :)
Tori! This rocks! You Rock gurl! Love your style :) Keep it comin.
