An Easter Tradition

4/01/13

I have always loved Easter Sunday. First and foremost because it’s the day that symbolizes and draws extra celebration to a RISEN Savior. And while that’s a truth every day, there’s just something special about days set aside to focus on certain truths, you know?

Additionally, growing up Easter Sunday was always a wonderful day spent with my family. My parents had a few different fun traditions that they started with us over the years, the most notable being that when we were young (up until probably middle school ages – when we stopped being able to find them in stores) my Dad would buy me, my brother and sister each a styrofoam airplane. We’d assemble them, and then on Sunday afternoon out at my grandparent’s house (after delicious Easter lunch) we would all spend time with Dad and Grandpa watching them sore (or occasionally crash land, which was usually my luck). This is still an absolute favorite childhood memory. We also always made a point of getting a family picture taken before or after church every Easter (as evidenced above). And while I hate that I don’t get to spend Easter with my family in Indiana throwing styrofoam airplanes anymore, I AM grateful to be starting new traditions with Aaron. And being that I’m a photographer, naturally starting a photo tradition together seemed only right. :)

We were both in need of haircuts in 2011….haha.

Yesterday we got to spend the day with some of our dear friends from church (those of us without family in town) and snapped this photo at their house.

So grateful for another year documented with Aaron, and another wonderful Easter with people we love. How was YOUR Easter weekend?
