Well, the month is more than halfway over, and I’m just getting around to this post…but I blame maternity leave for most of that. ;) It really is crazy how quickly this month is flying by, but I’m excited for the rest of it and what’s yet to come. Also pretty excited to recap June…which was obviously one of the most wonderful months of my life. I had a beautiful wedding featured on The Knot, spent lots of quality time with my Mom, got to celebrate a friend’s birthday with a lovely brunch as one of my last social outings before Llewyn was born, waited and waited and labored for over a week, finally had my sweet baby (!!!), and spent the rest of the month snuggling, relaxing and beginning to figure out motherhood.
These were my June goals, and here’s how they ended up:
PERSONAL
Continue relaxation exercises until Llewyn comes!Drink lots of water & raspberry leaf teaClean bedroom & wash rugsSort my clothes & pack away winter itemsClean any/everything else as “nesting” energy bursts happen!REST and watch a lot of Friends ;)Hang out with actual friends whenever possible!Patiently await Llewyn’s arrival :)
BUSINESS
Continue blogging as desiredPut up “Maternity Leave” email messageShip out any remaining albums/client productsPay quarterly taxes & personal propertyENJOY TIME OFF!
This month hasn’t been too much different, as I’ve been on maternity leave and really trying to focus on enjoying my baby and continuing to recover and adjust to my “new normal”, as much as possible. But here’s what I’ve been working on:
PERSONAL
- Begin reading Baby Wise
- Begin reading new devotional book
- Drink 60+ ounces of water a day
- Order and begin wearing new postpartum belly wrap
- Work in a bottle feeding from Aaron once a day
- Have at least two solo outings with Llewyn
- Share Llewyn’s birth story
- Photograph & blog Llewyn’s nursery
BUSINESS
- Prepare for first two weddings post-baby
- Shoot first two weddings post-baby!
- Order client album
- Finish editing lifestyle session
- Submit 1-2 weddings
I’ve already been able to accomplish some of this, but am obviously hoping to get the rest done in the next two weeks. The biggest things for the month are definitely having my first weddings post-baby! I know it’ll take a while to figure out the new balance of running my business and taking care of Llewyn, but I plan to take it one day at a time, and try to show myself a lot of grace in the process. Thankfully I have a great group of friends who are already doing this and I know I can glean from their experience and wisdom. So, here’s to embracing new adventures in life and as a business owner!
What are you most excited to tackle before the end of the month?
