This look is actually duel-purpose. When I first went on the search for a simple striped above-the-knee maternity dress, the thought was that it would be something I could easily dress up or down (which it is), as well as something that would pair well with a lot of different types of layers over it. Obviously the inspiration photo in a more direct interpretation will be great as we reach the cooler Fall temperatures, but for the Summer I’ve gone with some vest options to keep it friendly to the warm temps (you can check out this one, for a more casual approach).

This long fringe vest is a perfect fit with it. It dresses it up a little, but keeps a bit of a boho vibe (which you know I love) and it’s stillĀ super comfy and not fussy. I actually wore this exact outfit to shoot a wedding in back in June and it was perfect! But I also love that the vest and dress with comfortable clogs, a simple necklace and a little clutch make for a great date-night outfit, too.
Dress: Target, $25 | Vest: H&M, $9 | Clogs: Dansko, $99 | Necklace: Trades of Hope, $32 | Clutch: Thrifted, $3
Obviously this look would be just as cute/ideal for non-maternity. Having one or two super comfortable pencil-type dresses in your wardrobe will afford a lot of options with layering and accessorizing and especially if you lean towards being more of a minimalist with your clothes, this is the type of item you should definitely grab!
What’s your favorite work-appropriate outfit that easily translates to date-night?
Hi Tori,
Gorgeous look! LOVE how you styled your Luna Necklace!
