Dressing yourself after the bump when your body is still shifting (and hopefully working it’s way back to “normal”) can be such a challenge. It can be hard to be excited about clothes when they’re not the size you’re used to wearing, or your favorite things aren’t nursing friendly and that feature is now a necessity. Whatever the case for each new mama, the struggle of feeling cute, functional and comfortable in clothes in the weeks and months after having a baby can take some work. So, versatile pieces that are comfortable become instant winners.
Today, I’m featuring the lounge cardigan in collaboration with the lovely folks over at Latched Mama. While it’s listed in their lounge-wear, the best part about this thing is that it can transition instantly from lounging around the house in PJ’s to being thrown over a dress or shirt to head out and run errands or meet a friend. It is SO comfy and easy to throw on with so many things that I find myself reaching for it almost daily whenever it’s not being washed. And the stretchy jersey material combined with the flowy nature of it can really help with disguising the waist and hips if those happen to be areas you’re a little less thrilled about right now (*cough* like me).
This loose button-front dress was a great find from TJ Maxx a few Summers ago and even though it’s a lightweight material it transitions for the winter perfectly with the cardigan, scarf and tights. And it’s super easy for nursing.

While I’m a fan of making as many non-nursing specific items work FOR nursing, I absolutely love that companies like Latched Mama exist for adding a few key items that are made specifically for nursing (and flattering the postpartum body!) in mind. The quality of their pieces is fantastic and I’m telling you, the comfort level is unmatched. Can’t wait to grow my collection by a few more pieces! And a bonus: they’re a Richmond-based small business which is even more fun to share the love and support for!
Take-away tip: look for button-front dresses or shirts, in your own closet, and experiment with different cardigans for easy nursing-friendly versatility and endless combinations of different pairings.
If you have any favorite nursing-specific clothing brands, share them in the comments so we mamas can all help each other discover new favorite and functional wardrobe pieces! :)
