Wardrobe Wednesday | Black & Neutral

3/21/12

I was originally drawn to this week’s inspiration look (from my Pinterest board) because of the simplicity of it, and the neutral + black color palette. I like that it’s very non-frilly, but still a skirt and tights outfit.

(Inspiration photo source. All other photos taken by Lauryn Galloway, edited by me.)

The look that I created based on this inspiration is one I’ve found myself loving more and more since putting it together. I love that it’s casual and almost masculine with the lack of bright colors, plus the structured top and the boots/socks, but still feminine with the flowy skirt and the added bracelets. It’s also reignited my love for this shirt that’s been in my closet for YEARS, but hasn’t been worn much in a long time. Glad I kept it around!

Skirt: Urban Outfitters (similar), $30 | Shirt: Can’t Remember Where I Got It! (but I think somewhere like Kohl’s) | Boots: Old Navy, $20 | Belt: Goodwill, $3

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this look! Is it something you would have pinned, or easily passed up? Do you like the idea of neutral outfits?

i definitely like your version of this outfit the best. the bracelets are so much fun. i kinda want to steal your whole closet.

  9. Definitely my favorite outfit so far. The “masculinity” of it brings the whole thing into comfy-land, a place I am quite fond of. In fact, I could see trying to pull this one off myself. Awesome!
