My sweet nephew is already almost 2 months old, but I couldn’t not share this special maternity session I did for my brother & sister-in-law in the Fall when they were anticipating the arrival of little Asa. I really love documenting all seasons of motherhood, but maternity sessions and all of the excitement and anticipation they involve is such a special thing, especially in this case. After losing their precious daughter – my niece, Leonie – to Trisomy 18 at 24 weeks gestation just a year before, there was so much uncertainty, even if a lot of hope, about another pregnancy. While no one will ever replace Leonie, the healthy and full term pregnancy that Melissa had with Asa was such an amazing gift and answer to prayer. I love this little boy so very much, and getting to celebrate during the season of his pregnancy with Melissa & Asher was such a deep joy for me. On top of it all, we couldn’t have had a more gorgeous Fall afternoon for these photos. Such favorites for so many reasons. <3
