The Parents Came To Visit!

10/29/12

As I mentioned last week, my parents were able to come visit Aaron and I here in Richmond for a few days and it was a wonderful time! I always love getting time with them, and they’re particularly easy people to have around because they’re perfectly content to just chill at home and visit, and at the same time are always open to a little adventure. Sadly, Aaron had to work during most of their time here, but the other three of us set out to experience a bit of the city together, particularly some of the historical aspects that I had yet to see. So, we started with the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, since not only had I never been there, but I really didn’t know much about the man, in general. My parents love history, and my Dad loves reading evvvery word possible at museums (when we used to go on field trips as kids, we’d be waiting at the end of the museum for my Dad to show up because he would inevitably get behind the rest of us who mostly looked at pictures ;).

The courtyard area is so lovely that of course I had to take the opportunity to get some photos OF them! They’re pretty cute…. ;)

The next day we decided to take on the Virginia Holocaust Museum. It was so much bigger and more in depth than I expected, as it not only tells the story of the overall tragedy of the Holocaust, but the hopeful story of a family that surivived and ended up settling here in Richmond. Incredibly sobering, but I’m so glad I went. You should go, if you never have. We, of course, didn’t take photos there. But afterwards we headed to Urban Farmhouse so that we could debrief a little, and I could introduce my Mom to another local coffee shop. Because, if you didn’t know, my Mom lovvvves coffee.

Each of these expressions are so perfectly Mom. ;)

So, as you can see, we had ourselves a good time. I’m so grateful for parents that are my friends, who don’t take themselves too seriously, and who make the trek out to the East Coast to visit their children. :)
