May Goals

5/07/15

April was such a great month, and I can’t believe it’s already over and we’re well into May! Some of my top highlights were turning 29, shooting 2 DC engagement shoots for friends (among several other shoots!), a styled shoot for a vintage boutique (more to come, soon!), enjoying beautiful Spring flowers around the house, my morning French-press routine, sending pretty branded packages, enjoying two beautiful baby showers for Llewyn, AND finding out the gender of our good friends who are also having a boy later this year! Such a happy start to Spring, indeed.

May Goals April Instagram Recap_0001

Here’s how April goals ended up:

PERSONAL

  • Workout or go for a walk 3 times a week (Definitely didn’t happen purposely 3 times each week, but I did a lot of walking & activity throughout the month!)
  • Clean & oil dresser in nursery
  • Order rug for nursery
  • Make IKEA trip for a few more items for nursery (Ordered online instead, but got the items!)
  • Paint & hang shelves for nursery
  • Begin re-organizing closets upstairs
  • Finish reading birth book (So close! Just like 2 chapters to go)
  • Hire a doula

BUSINESS

  • Re-supply on client gift materials
  • Order new packing materials (In progress)
  • Work more on Bridal Guide
  • Clean office & photograph for blog (In progress!)
  • Submit another 1-2 shoots/weddings
  • Make blogging schedule
  • Pre-blog several posts
  • Set up Google+ business page
  • Make sure all album processes are up to date

So, I definitely didn’t get as many of my overall business goals done, due to all of the shoots I was working in (since I’m not shooting now that it’s May). But thankfully I still have a few weeks before Llewyn comes to try to wrap some of those things up! :) So here’s what I hope to get done in May, my last month before baby!

PERSONAL

  • Work on relaxation & breathing exercises
  • Put contact paper in dresser drawers in nursery
  • Put together IKEA unit
  • Hang shelves, curtains & artwork in nursery
  • Pack hospital bag!
  • Finish reading birth book
  • Write birth plan/preferences
  • Skype dates with at least 2 friends
  • Decide on/order a diaper bag
  • Wash all baby clothes
  • Buy any remaining items necessary before his birth

BUSINESS

  • Finish picking out/ordering new packing materials
  • Work more on Bridal Guide
  • Design/print new shipping labels
  • Finish cleaning office & photograph
  • Submit another 1-2 shoots/weddings
  • Edit all remaining shoots from April
  • Pre-blog more posts
  • Order new workflow charts with TWP logo & update

Obviously, the majority of this month is focused on preparing for labor and bringing Llewyn home, as we are on the final stretch! But I also hope to use the remainder of my more flexible time wisely to finish up a few of these business related projects so that once I launch back into weddings after he’s born, I’ll have everything well stocked and good systems in place. Wish me luck in all of it! :)

What are you most excited to tackle this month?

These are such great goals, Tori!!! Yay!!! I need to re-photograph and clean my office too!!

  2. Anna says:

I want to start being a better steward of my time, especially now that Serenity is sleeping better.

    Time management:
    • get things like laundry & cleaning (especially the bathroom) done while Serenity is watching her, once a day, Veggie Tales video or taking her nap.
    • meal plan & make grocery lists more in advance instead of wasting time on Pinterest (this is embarassing to admit)

    Projects to accomplish:
    • finish painting Serenity’s rocking moose
    • finish painting her 2 chairs & paint her little table
    • make 2 maxi skirts
    • spray paint magnetic alphabet

I’d also like to create a place for our mail & papers and not have piles everywhere.
When we moved into my parent’s basement 2 years ago we thought it would be for 6-9 months so I didn’t work very hard on organization. Now, even if it’s only for 6 more months, I feel like we need to live intentionally, not haphazardly. So I’m trying to improve & grow in this area and make our little “temporary” home work better.
