In honor of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share this very special and sweet anniversary session that Aaron and I did with my dear friend, and our wedding photographer, Rebekah Murray this past Fall. While we celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2020, being just 3 months postpartum + in the middle of the pandemic, we didn’t have capacity to celebrate it in a big way, at the time. But we made up for it by taking a trip to our favorite resort in August of 2021 and then did this session on the weekend of our 11th anniversary in November 2021. Rebekah has photographed so very many special things for me – including our engagement, wedding, branding/headshots for me, 2/3 of my maternity sessions (this one and this one), photos of me with my kids & now yet another celebration of my relationship with Aaron.
Passing a decade of marriage is obviously so meaningful in itself, but doing so in the midst of some of the hardest years of my life gives it extra significance. This session was done the day after I returned home from one of my closest loved one’s funerals due to Covid. In a way, that grief made even this brief chance to get dressed up for time set aside with Aaron all the more meaningful. He’s my safe place in the best and hardest of times. He makes me laugh like no other and brings me such joy, even when the world around me is so very heavy. He loves and serves sacrificially when I’m not capable of much beyond surviving the day. He has been faithful and reliable when the world has been more uncertain than ever. All of those things are represented in these photos, and I’m forever grateful for it. 11 years of life with Aaron has been the greatest gift.
Thank you to Sarah of Henterre Clay for making me these perfect custom earrings, to Amy at Looking Glass Beauty for making my hair and makeup inspiration come true, to my girl Rachel at Sweet Root Village for a bouquet BEYOND what I even imagined, and my kindred Rebekah for the authentic and beautiful way she captured this evening.
Love you, Aaron. Thanks for being my Valentine, my friend, my husband for these 11 years and counting. You are the best one of the best ones, hands down.
Gorgeous! And congratulations. Where did you take these photos?
