Vintage Boho Nursery Inspiration

9/09/20

Leighton is 3-weeks old today and I’m excited to be showing off his nursery! This is the same room that Margot was in as a baby, so I worked with much of the stuff we already had for her – you can see her nursery here. All the furniture is the same, though I painted the dresser for Leighton since it used to be mint green. Other than that, I worked in new decor items based off of what would work with the black & white rocking chair and olive curtains. I love how it came together to feel like a unique and different room for Leighton, but being practical and frugal by using what we had. Check it out and see all sources below!

Love how his little gallery wall came together. The first piece I got was this fun wall hanging at a great warehouse sale from Salt & Sundry in DC. I’m a huge fan of Charley Mackesy and his book “The Boy, The Mole, The Fox & The Horse” and framed one of my favorite pages from it because I loved the aesthetic and the sentiment. It says: “Always remember you matter, you’re important and you are loved, and you bring to this world things no one else can.” I mean, queue the tears.

The little vintage brass planter is from one of my favorite thrift Instagram shops The Sanders Abode (you should definitely go follow her) and the geometric wood hanging with the air plant was gotten from my favorite local shop Wld Wst and is from Wildly Urban. Love them both so much! The bird artwork is something I bought last year from Fox Hollow Studios for general home decor, but I knew it would go perfectly to wrap up this little display.

I took a chance and painted the dresser with a pre-mixed zero VOC paint that I ordered online from Home Depot (this is the one I got)  and the handles are from Etsy. The cute wicker basket – perfect for hiding wipes and diaper cream – is from another cute vintage shop Midwest Vintage. I made the alphabet poster (it’s an 18 x 24) and ordered it as a cheap engineer print from Staples + got the frame from Target. Simple, easy, cheap and the perfect art for this spot! The wicker hamper was a great thrift score at just $3!

This hanging shelf was already in here for Margot’s room and I love it so much. I loved re-styling it with letter blocks that were made at Llewyn’s baby shower and also used in his nursery, along with the vintage cup and spoons that were given to me by my grandma as heirlooms that had been used in generations past throughout my family – these also were used in both Llewyn & Margot’s rooms. I love incorporating some things that have been consistent in each of their rooms as babies, while also doing new things for each of them.

Maternity photos were by Rebekah Murray and I ordered the little photobook from Artifact Uprising. The brass bird + little marble vase are from yet another favorite vintage shop, Honeysuckle, and the other frames + print are ones that I’ve had sitting around for years.

Annnd the amazing vintage Turkish rug is via my pals over at District Loom! I knew I wanted a vintage rug to bring a totally different vibe to this space, but it also had to be a really specific color palate to go with what was already happening in the room via the rocking chair and curtains. Heather was amazing in going back and forth with me for days trying to find the perfect fit. I love this one that we settled on sooo much and think it’s truly the perfect touch!

The side table was from Target, the cubby storage + wicker baskets from IKEA and the foot stool was thrifted way back originally for Llewyn’s nursery.

I truly love this space and it brings me so much joy to have created a unique and fun, yet budget-friendly, space for my baby boy. Hope you enjoyed getting this peek at it + introduced to so many of my favorite brands and little shops!
