Baby Bump | Weeks 34, 35 & 36

5/11/15

You guys, there will only be one more bump update after this post! It’s crazy that I really could meet Llewyn anywhere from like 2-6 weeks from now. Hoping, of course, to hit right at 4 weeks which is nice and right on schedule. But I’m fully aware there’s not much I can do to control when he decides to come… Either way, the final countdown is definitely on and we are on the home stretch! I’m a little shocked at where the time has gone.

What have the last few weeks been like? As usual, here are a few notables:

  • I did my final photo session last week, a day before 36 weeks. While I felt ok during it, I’m definitely glad to just be chilling from here on out, and working on editing and other lower-key tasks. I think I timed it well as far as when to stop shooting.
  • My right hand is perpetually numb, which is apparently a form of pregnancy-induced carpel tunnel. Since I’ve had carpel tunnel issues before from shooting, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. But it was never numbness before, so it’s a weird sensation to keep using your hand and have it always slightly void of feeling. Hah. (I’ve been told this is totally normal and it will go away after he’s born, though….)
  • I’ve had my first few contractions! Only like 3 total, and several days apart. The first one that happened, I might have mentally freaked out a little since I didn’t have a hospital bag packed and in general DON’T feel ready since I keep telling myself “I have a month to go”. But, after googling it and talking to others, it seems this is very normal in the weeks leading up to delivery and is just “your body getting ready”. So, it will no doubt be an interesting few weeks as everything is about to get real!
  • I’m working in as many fun things as possible while we’re still able to go do things easily. So, I’ve had several great coffee dates, went to a concert & Squirrels game with Aaron, and hope to continue going out and enjoying time with Aaron and friends while we have the flexibility to do so.
  • Still sleeping pretty well, but wake up a few times throughout the night to flip over, and usually have a little bit of hip pain on whatever side I was sleeping on. Likewise, at the end of the day or after being active for a while my lower back usually gets uncomfortable. All things considered, though, I know these are very minor and I’ve been super grateful to be feeling good!
  • In the last few weeks I’ve suddenly wanted all the sweet things. Throughout the majority of this pregnancy I’ve been more into vinegary and salty things, but of course that would have to change on the home stretch. Haha. Trying to be very reasonable about what I eat, but there’s definitely some ice cream and donuts here and there….

So grateful things are going well, and getting seriously excited to meet this little guy, soon! Here’s hoping I can get everything done in the nursery and work/life that’s on my to-do list in the meantime… :) Yay for the home stretch!
