Christmas Decor 2023

12/22/23

Though I love pulling out favorite items each year, I always love finding ways to be creative or different or put a new spin on what I have. This year I was feeling spicy and actually gave in to using some red for the first time in years. I got some beautiful velvet ribbon from Etsy in a darker red that I incorporated on the tree and in other little touches and I really love how it all came together, but in a way that still felt very much like me. Enjoy this peek into this year’s Christmas decor!

The kids’ ornaments this year are little oyster shells I got on Etsy each with a different beachy design that represents our family trip earlier this Fall to Punta Cana. This palm tree is Llewyn’s, Margot’s has a flamingo (which she actually got to see at the resort) and Leighton’s has a crab (which he also saw at the beach).

I also loved adding some red touches to the gallery wall, and with a throw pillow cover, while also including several of my favorite art pieces from last year (nutcracker and the evergreen from Amy Garside and the October print from Figure Form) annnd the beautuful wall sconce from Wld Wst I hadn’t had the chance to use yet.

Loved pulling out our beautiful german candleholder from last year and enjoying the mesmerizing spinning of it. But I especially love the additions the kiddos added this year: Llewyn making this Lego candycane as our advent calendar marker, and the sweet little wooden ornaments that all 3 kids painted/colored.

This year I had fun flexing my artistic muscles a little more with painting some ornaments as gifts, as well as this simple little water color greenery & berries for my gallery wall.

I was excited to be able to grab these sweet leather name tags for our stockings this year. I loved the initial yarn ones I made and have been using the last few years, but I’d been envying these that Shelby Goodman shared for years and her dad opened his business for a select few orders so I jumped on the opportunity. Also really into this vintage brass sleigh from an Instagram shop and the gorgeous brass wreath I got on an after Christmas sale from Wld Wst last year. Also, definitely recommend these LED tapers for anyone else in a space or season with kids where you don’t want real flames.

Every year it brings me so much creative energy and joy to decorate my home and bring the warmth of this season to our days. The challenge of collecting vintage items and shopping small + using and repurposing things year after year are all so fun to me. Check out last year’s post for more and to see additonal sources for where I’ve gathered stuff over the years.
