For the past 3 months I’ve been taking part in The Contentment Challenge led by Nancy Ray and as a way to finish strong + add a fun and interesting challenge with my own style, I decided to try a mini capsule wardrobe challenge for the last 10 days of March and the challenge. So it’s 10 items (including shoes) for 10 days. I’ve also just never challenged myself to a limited number of pieces before, so I thought it would be interesting to see how I do and how I feel about the experience. I’d love to have you join in, if you’re looking for a fun little exercise!
Here’s what I’m doing for my 10 items:
4 tops – casual & light weight long sleeve, two button downs a long and short sleeved, one patterned tank for layering
2 pants – slightly cropped, straight leg blue jeans and black skinny jeans
2 shoes – favorite loafer flats and favorite low-heel bootie
1 skirt – bringing in another pattern
1 cardigan – it’s still a bit chilly around here, so I wanted a warm layer
Here are my exceptions:
Undergarments, pajamas and workout wear don’t count. So, leggings and t-shirts for working out or even lounging around the house are still definitely allowed! Outerwear and my black rain boots are also included as the weather necessitates. And lastly, all accessories are fair game! So you can jazz up any of your 10 items on a daily basis with jewelry, scarves, purses, etc!
If you take part, feel free to determine your own exceptions. The point of the challenge isn’t to make yourself miserable, just to challenge yourself and the way you look at and utilize the clothes in your wardrobe. :)
You can follow along with my daily outfits via my Instagram (I’ll post in my stories) and I’d love to have you use #TWcapsulechallenge if you’re participating so I can see what you’re putting together, as well!
If you have done a capsule wardrobe in the past what are the things you learned from it? What did you enjoy? Were there elements you didn’t enjoy? I’d love to hear your experience!
I loved getting to see your creativity in the outfits each day on Instagram! I especially loved your flat loafers, would you mind sharing where you got them from?
Thank you so much Claudia! I actually thrifted them years and years ago….so I know that’s not super helpful. :-/ But they are certainly favorites and ones I’m super grateful I came across!
