Wardrobe Wednesday | Thrifted Spring Style

4/03/19

I just got done with my first ever Capsule Wardrobe Challenge (check out my Instagram stories highlight to see each of the daily outfits + hear my thoughts about it) and I super enjoyed it. But, I’m also excited to get back to wearing more of my other favorite pieces in my closet and both this top + skirt are two of them.

I’m getting more and more sold – especially after the capsule wardrobe – on the concept that finding simple pieces, either in color, style, silhouette or all three, that you really love goes soooo much farther in your closet than a bunch of pieces that seem more “exciting” in their trendy style or pattern, but are harder to mix and match with, or don’t stay favorites for very long. I think pattern can STILL be fairly simple and versatile, so long as it’s the right kind and one that you know you will love for a long time. At any rate, investing in this top from Schmid & Daughters, a local VA company started by two sisters with incredible talent & style, who make items from deadstock fabric was one of my favorite purchases last year. I definitely plan to get another one or two in the future. It’s the shorter length & boxier cut that I’m very much into for pairing with higher waisted skirts and pants and the touch of the brown buttons gives it some interest while still being simple and versatile.

This skirt was a fun thrift find on ThredUP as I’d been wanting a good, basic, comfortable black skirt that would hit high-waisted but not be so structured it would be hard to move in and wear on a daily basis. This one fits the bill so perfectly and I love this thing! Paired with my also-favorite secondhand booties from Poshmark, thrifted purse and vintage scarf from Etsy…and this outfit sums up all the things I love most in the pieces of my closet.

Skirt: ThredUp | Shirt: Schmid & Daughters | Booties: Crown Vintage via Poshmark | Scarf: Etsy

Above all, I’m SO thrilled for Spring weather and not having to wear so many layers or long sleeves all the time, now. These pieces will be in constant use now that weather is nicer and I can’t wait!

Thanks to Jenny for shooting these photos for me!
